ray_aiming — OPTICS design op

使い方

How well the pupil rays reach the stop at one field: counts, residual and pupil extent (table).

Traces the rings-ring hexapolar pupil with the chosen aim ("stop" by default; "paraxial" shows what the older launch loses) and reports n_rays, n_pass_stop (rays that crossed the stop surface inside its aperture), n_lost (rays lost anywhere: stop, other apertures, TIR), max_residual (largest distance between a ray’s stop point and its aim point, in stop radii; None for paraxial aiming), and the extent of the pupil on the stop in stop radii: stop_x / stop_y = (min, max) over the rays that passed. With vignetting factors in force the extent is (VD − (1 − VC), VD + (1 − VC)) — compression 0.3 gives a pupil 0.7 as tall.
